Here in St. Louis, we are self-quarantining like everyone else. But the reality of the Corona Virus has given us the opportunity to reflect on how gracious people are and how much we care about one another.
At the Novitiate House in South City, our neighbor Jodie came over on Monday night to make sure we were all ok. Jodie had been the first to visit when we moved into the neighborhood in 2018. Later, Andy and Katy from across the street texted, inquiring if we had what we needed. We had welcomed Andy, Katy, and their dog Dobie into our lower level when we experienced tornado warnings last year.
Yesterday, some of us brought food and supplies to JoAnne who is home-bound next door to us. As we were visiting her, we met Jeff and Andrew, neighbors to the west, who had also come to make sure Jo Anne is ok. It is an amazing realization that we live in the midst of such caring people!
In the background of these challenging days, our garden is just beginning to bloom. And last night, after heavy storms and rain, a rainbow arched across our back lot. Two reminders of God’s presence and abundant care.

The St. Louis Novitiate Community
Aquí en St. Louis, estamos en cuarentena como todos los demás. Pero la realidad del Virus Corona nos ha dado la oportunidad de reflexionar sobre cuán amables son las personas y cuánto nos importamos unos a otros.
En la Casa del Noviciado en South City, nuestra vecina Jodie vino el lunes por la noche para asegurarse de que todos estuviéramos bien. Jodie había sido la primera en visitarnos cuando nos mudamos al vecindario en 2018. Más tarde, Andy y Katy desde el otro lado de la calle enviaron mensajes de texto, preguntando si teníamos lo que necesitábamos. Recibimos a Andy, Katy y su perro Dobie en nuestro nivel inferior cuando experimentamos advertencias de tornado el año pasado.
Ayer, algunos de nosotros trajimos comida y suministros a JoAnne, que está en casa al lado de nosotros. Mientras la visitábamos, conocimos a Jeff y Andrew, vecinos del oeste, que también habían venido para asegurarse de que Jo Anne estuviera bien. ¡Es una asombrosa comprensión de que vivimos en medio de personas tan atentas!
En el fondo de estos días desafiantes, nuestro jardín está comenzando a florecer. Y anoche, después de fuertes tormentas y lluvia, un arco iris se arqueó a través de nuestro lote trasero. Dos recordatorios de la presencia y el cuidado abundante de Dios.
