God longs to use us to make it happen.
Today the Church celebrates the Feast of the Nativity of Mary. Nine months ago we celebrated the Immaculate Conception, when (we believe) Mary was conceived without sin. God had a plan: Mary was to bear the child of God, Emmanuel, God with us. The Church reasons that only one conceived without sin could do so. Hence, the Immaculate Conception, and 9 months later, the birth of Mary.
Today is also for many Incarnate Word Sisters, the anniversary of when they were received into the Congregation. There are many of us too young to have experienced what our older Sisters in the United States did: being welcomed at the Chapel of the Incarnate Word, filled to capacity with the Sisters. They entered a Chapel ablaze with light bulbs framing every arch and a sea of black and white veils singing the Te Deum. "I still can hear the Te Deum." (View/listen HERE).
It has been the practice of Incarnate Word Sisters to celebrated in a special way, all of the Marian Feasts. Traditionally, Sisters profess vows on the 15th of August, the Feast of the Assumption. The Congregation's feast day is the Feast of the Annunciation (March 25). Mary is our model; Mary was the first to give her "yes" to God, for the Incarnate Word.

The Congregation has as its charism the call to make the love of God as shown in the Incarnation, a real and tangible presence in the world. This is a gift that comes from God, Jesus, Emmanuel with us. In these troubling and challenging times, especially, it is vital that we say "yes" every day, to make God's love real and tangible, in today's world. All of us are called to be "Christ-bearers" in the world, even in this time of physical distancing.

Hoy la Iglesia celebra la fiesta de la Natividad de María. Hace nueve meses celebramos la Inmaculada Concepción, cuando creemos que María fue concebida sin pecado. Dios tenía un plan: María iba a dar a luz al hijo de Dios, Emmanuel, Dios con nosotros. La Iglesia razona que solo uno concebido sin pecado podría hacerlo. De ahí la Inmaculada Concepción y 9 meses después el nacimiento de María.
Hoy es también para muchas Hermanas del Verbo Encarnado, el aniversario de su recepción en la Congregación. Muchos de nosotros somos demasiado jóvenes para haber experimentado lo que hicieron nuestras Hermanas mayores en los Estados Unidos: ser acogidas en la Capilla del Verbo Encarnado, llenas hasta el tope con las Hermanas. Entraron en una Capilla en llamas con bombillas que enmarcaban cada arco y un mar de velos blancos y negros cantando el Te Deum. "Todavía puedo escuchar el Te Deum". (Ver / escuchar AQUÍ).
Ha sido práctica de las Hermanas del Verbo Encarnado celebrar de manera especial todas las Fiestas Marianas. Tradicionalmente, las Hermanas profesan los votos el 15 de agosto, fiesta de la Asunción. La fiesta de la Congregación es la Fiesta de la Anunciación (25 de marzo). María es nuestro modelo; María fue la primera en dar su "sí" a Dios, por el Verbo Encarnado.

La Congregación tiene como carisma la llamada a hacer del amor de Dios manifestado en la Encarnación una presencia real y tangible en el mundo. Este es un regalo que viene de Dios, Jesús, Emmanuel con nosotros. En estos tiempos inquietantes y desafiantes, especialmente, es vital que digamos "sí" todos los días, para hacer real y tangible el amor de Dios en el mundo de hoy. Todos estamos llamados a ser "portadores de Cristo" en el mundo, incluso en este tiempo de distanciamiento físico.
