Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the men who love the way the father of the prodigal son did.

The parable of the prodigal son (Read: https://bible.usccb.org/bible/luke/15) was the inspiration for Rembrandt's painting, pictured here. It is among the last of his paintings, and depicts mercy and forgiveness, but mostly the lavish love of the father. Many draw attention to the hands (male and female) that represent both the motherly and fatherly attributes of God. Recommended to read - Henri Nouwen's Return of the Prodigal Son: A Story of Homecoming.

"God not only offers forgiveness, reconciliation, and healing, but wants to lift up these gifts as a source of joy for all who witness them" (Nouwen).
