Prayer of Remembrance
S. Janet Monsalvo
May 14, 1926 - December 16, 2020
Loving God, source of all good,
you have drawn many to follow Jesus,
the Incarnate Word,
and to bind themselves to you
with a ready will,
and a loving heart.
Look with mercy
on our Sister Janet
and grant her a place of refreshment,
of blessed rest,
and resplendent life.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God for ever and ever. Amen.
Liturgy of the Word
First Reading: 1 John 3:1-2
See what love the Father has bestowed on us
that we may be called the children of God.
Yet so we are.
The reason the world does not know us
is that it did not know him.
Beloved, we are God’s children now;
what we shall be has not yet been revealed.
We do know that when it is revealed we shall be like him,
for we shall see him as he is.
Response: Psalm 23 (The Lord is My Shepherd)
Gospel: John 14:1-6
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Do not let your hearts be troubled.
You have faith in God; have faith also in me.
In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places.
If there were not,
would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?
And if I go and prepare a place for you,
I will come back again and take you to myself,
so that where I am you also may be.
Where I am going you know the way.”
Thomas said to him,
“Master, we do not know where you are going;
how can we know the way?”
Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.”

R./ Incarnate Word, hear our prayer.
The Lord's Prayer
Good and gracious God,
We give you thanks for the life of Sister Janet; for her call, and for her years of faithful commitment to you, and to this Congregation.
We celebrate the gift she was to her family,
to her friends, and to her religious Sisters.
We humbly ask that she is rewarded with
eternal life in your presence.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Deep peace of the running wave to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the shining stars to you.
Deep peace of the gentle night to you.
Moon and stars pour their healing light on you.
Deep peace of Christ the light of the world to you.
Deep peace of Christ to you.
Blessed are those who have died in the Lord;
let them rest from their labors
for their good deeds go with them.
Eternal rest grant unto
Sister Janet, O Lord.
R./ And let perpetual light shine upon her.
May she rest in peace.
May her soul and the souls of all the
faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
May the love of God, and the peace of
our Lord Jesus Christ, bless and console us,
and gently wipe every tear from our eyes,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Let us go in peace.
R./ Thanks be to God.
